The 2-Step Process

For most patients, getting a crown takes two visits spaced about a week or two apart. However, for patients coming from outside Turkey, our staff works with extraordinary effort and dedication to expedite this entire process as much as possible.

Visit 1: Preparation & The “Temporary”

Numbing: We make sure the area is completely numb so you won’t feel a thing.

Shaping: We gently “trim” the tooth down a bit on all sides so the crown can fit over it without feeling bulky.

The Impression: We take a digital scan or a mold of your tooth. This is sent to our lab, where technicians custom-craft your permanent crown.

The Temp: We’ll send you home with a temporary plastic crown. It looks okay, but its main job is just to keep your tooth comfortable while the real one is being made.

Visit 2: The Final Fit

Once your permanent crown arrives, you come back in. We’ll remove the temporary, check the fit and color of the new one, and then bond it permanently into place. Once it’s in, it functions just like a real tooth!

It should be noted that because the entire process is completed faster than usual, international patients will have more than two clinic sessions.

What does it feel like?

During the procedure: You’ll feel some pressure and hear the usual dental sounds, but no pain.
Afterward: Your gum might be a little tender for a day or two, but that’s about it.
Long-term: You’ll brush and floss it just like your other teeth. With good care, these “helmets” can last 10 to 15 years (or even longer).

A Quick Pro-Tip: While you have the temporary crown on, try to avoid super sticky foods like taffy or gum. We want it to stay put until the permanent one is ready!

Is there a catch?

Because the material is so high-tech and often requires special computer-aided milling (CAD/CAM) to create, Zirconia can be a little more expensive than a standard metal-porcelain crown. Also, because it's so hard, it can sometimes wear down the natural tooth it bites against if the fit isn't perfectly polished—but we take care of that during your fitting!
